Health Comes From Within

Human beings are programmed for health. It’s in our DNA. We form from a single cell. That cell contains the necessary intelligence to create a human being. That is simply astonishing. One. Single. Cell. And it divides and differentiates to form the brain, spinal cord, nerves, then the organs and glands, the bones, and on and on. With that remarkably incredible level of intelligence contained with in our bodies, what should we turn to first when there is a health concern? The body itself. You are your owner healer. If there is a health related problem, there is an overwhelming likelihood that it can be solved by improving 5 different categories – 1) the nervous system, 2) diet, 3) exercise, 4) sleep, 5) mental outlook.

1) The nervous system ties your brain to every part of your body – if there is interference anywhere in the nervous system your body is not functioning at 100%.

2) Our bodies have specific dietary needs. Meet these needs or you become deficient and your body cannot function properly. Bring things into your body that don’t belong there and you become toxic. Make sure you are consuming the necessary nutrients and avoiding toxins. And… make sure to refer back to number 1 above – interference in the nervous system will decrease your body’s ability to digestive, absorb and utilize the nutrients you consume.

3) We need exercise. Our bodies are made to move and most of us have jobs that require a lot of being still – whether it’s sitting or standing. Exercise is increasing your heart rate for a sustained period of time through physical activity. And… make sure to refer back to number 1 above – interference in the nervous system will decrease your body’s ability to respond to exercise and increase the risk of injury.

4) Get some rest. People need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep per day. It is best to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day (even on the weekends). Make sure that you are sleeping in alignment – keep your spine straight whether you are sleeping on your back or side (don’t sleep on your stomach). Most of the repair and regeneration that occurs in your body occurs when you are sleeping. And… make sure to refer back to number 1 above – interference in the nervous system will decrease your body’s ability to repair and regenerate.

5) Think positively! There is most certainly a mind-body connection. Your thoughts, feelings and beliefs can positively or negatively effect your health. Choose them wisely. And… make sure to refer back to number 1 above – interference in your nervous system can alter hormone levels, cause a constant state of stress response and, it’s difficult to be positive when the interference in the nervous system is causing pain.Lake Michigan
